This course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in becoming a dog grooming assistant and for established groomers seeking to update their knowledge and techniques. This course provides basic and general knowledge and offers the student a wide range of practical experience with a variety of breeds. Students may want to supply themselves with a "personal equipment pack", which they will use throughout the course. All the items in the personal equipment pack can be purchased from a recommended supplier. All other equipment is available to use in the grooming workshop.
- Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing for grooming
- Bathe and clean dogs
- Control and restrain dogs
- Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling
- Basic trimming of dogs coat
- Carry out reception duties
- Handle payments from clients
- Safely move animals between locations
- Basic trimming of dogs coat
Students will need to complete 24 days recorded and signed tuition, a practical exam and an online exam to receive their Level 2 City & Guides Qualification (All tuition and exams will be in house).
Students may want to supply themselves with a ‘Personal Equipment Pack’ including:
- 4 pairs of quality scissors (1 x Small bullnose, 1 x 6 inch straight, 1 x single sided thinners, 1 x 6 inch curved)
- Scissor pouch
- Soft slicker brush
- Greyhound comb
- Grooming tunic
This pack can be supplied to students by KDGA Ltd for an additional charge. Alternatively students can use salon equipment.

ONLY Available for students who have already achieved Level 2 City & Guilds Dog Grooming)
